Supermoon Returns

It's been a crazy summer for fans of Earth’s only natural satellite. Three of the year's four “Supermoons” have graced our skies this summer. Tonight, September 9th, is the final Supermoon of the year. It’s also the Harvest Moon, meaning it's the full moon closest to the Autumn Equinox on September 21st (yes, Fall is closer than you think).

You might be wondering, what the heck is a Supermoon? We wouldn’t blame you. After all, it pretty much sounds like a totally made-up thing. So what differentiates it from other, wholly fabricated nonsense (see: Sweetest Day and International Men's Day)?

Well, for one thing, a Supermoon isn't a phony holiday that nobody asked for. It's actually a fairly common astronomical event--known in far lamer circles as the perigee-syzygy of the Earth-Moon-Sun system. It is a full moon that occurs when the moon’s at the closest point of its elliptical orbit around Earth. In other words- the moon is closer, so it looks bigger and brighter. Up to 14% bigger and 30% percent brighter, to be exact.

The last Supermoon was in August, and the one before that was in July. But the next one won’t be for over a year! So we encourage all of you to get outside tonight, and gaze at the moon until you’re bored sick of the thing.

Take a good look. Can you spot the secret military base on the moon? Neither can we, but we know it's there. That’s because the moon is friggin' awesome. It’s mysterious, dynamic, romantic, feminine. Like a woman, it yields its power secretly, subtly manipulating the tides and ruling our inner emotional lives. The moon is a goddess worthy of our devotion, but demanding of nothing. The moon is...

Okay, maybe we're getting carried away, but we really like the moon. So we're celebrating the last Supermoon of the year with our Moon iPhone Case.

This beautiful case for the iPhone 5/5S, 5C, and 4/4S, celebrates the Lunar Goddess as she appears in the tarot deck-- a harbinger of the unconscious, intuition, dreamscapes, and psychic abilities. Speaking of which- The more esoteric among you probably need no reminder that tonight offers some great opportunities for potent cleansing rituals and for recharging crystals or power stones

But whether you're doing yoga in the moonlight, gazing through a telescope, or slowly and painfully transforming into a werewolf, just take a minute tonight to look up in awe as the full moon gently leads us towards the dawn of a new season. We know we will.
