Printed Matter’s LA Art Book Fair welcomes thousands of book lovers from January 29-February 1 at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA for a weekend of perusing artists’ books, catalogs, monographs, periodicals, and zines presented by more than 250 presses, antiquarians, artists, and independent publishers from over 20 countries. And the BEST PART....IT'S FREE! So head on over and get your hands dirty with a good book or two.
More than 20 museums open their doors for free to visitors in the 10th annual Museums Free-for-All event. Check the museums’ websites to see if there are any timed/ticketing restrictions. A few museums aren’t usually open on Saturdays, but they’ll be giving free admission on Sunday instead. Special exhibitions are generally excluded, and, yes, you still have to pay for parking.
DTLA will be loud and bright on Saturday night with a free Night On Broadway extravaganza from 5 -10 pm. Many of Broadway's historic theaters will be open for entertainment on the same night, featuring Nova Han presents Wilderbe, String Theory, a NoH8 open photo shoot, a short film showcase, Dance Mob Nation, Conundrum Theatre Company, Chessboxing, Honolulu Avenue Strummers, Mariachi Academy of Carson and more. The street will be closed for three blocks for a street fest, pop-up shops, art galleries and a vintage car show.
