Weekend Vibes

So the weekend is here and you have no plans....we'll let us help you with that!
Check out some fun things we found to do in LA with the help of LAist + LA CANVAS:

Print is def. NOT DEAD (Jan. 29- Feb.1):

Printed Matter’s LA Art Book Fair welcomes thousands of book lovers from January 29-February 1 at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA for a weekend of perusing artists’ books, catalogs, monographs, periodicals, and zines presented by more than 250 presses, antiquarians, artists, and independent publishers from over 20 countries. And the BEST PART....IT'S FREE! So head on over and get your hands dirty with a good book or two.

FREE MUSEUMS (Saturday, Jan. 31st):

More than 20 museums open their doors for free to visitors in the 10th annual Museums Free-for-All event. Check the museums’ websites to see if there are any timed/ticketing restrictions. A few museums aren’t usually open on Saturdays, but they’ll be giving free admission on Sunday instead. Special exhibitions are generally excluded, and, yes, you still have to pay for parking.

BROADWAY PARTY (Saturday, Jan. 31st):

DTLA will be loud and bright on Saturday night with a free Night On Broadway extravaganza from 5 -10 pm. Many of Broadway's historic theaters will be open for entertainment on the same night, featuring Nova Han presents Wilderbe, String Theory, a NoH8 open photo shoot, a short film showcase, Dance Mob Nation, Conundrum Theatre Company, Chessboxing, Honolulu Avenue Strummers, Mariachi Academy of Carson and more. The street will be closed for three blocks for a street fest, pop-up shops, art galleries and a vintage car show.

And if those events don't tickle your fancy, these bars below are always fun:

EightyTwo: 707 E 4th Pl, Los Angeles, CA 90013
EightyTwo is a classic arcade and pinball bar located in the Arts District of Downtown LA. 40 games, full bar, outdoor patio, nightly DJs. Game over!

Ace Hotel Downtown Los Angeles: 929 S Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90015
The well known Ace Hotel hit LA last year and since it's opening they have been hosting amazing parties and good views. With
182 rooms, a pool, a restaurant and three bars, as well as the restored United Artists Theater - this is your one stop shop for DTLA living.

Goodtimes at Davey Waynes: 1611 N El Centro Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90028
Talk about a time warp! Enter through a fridge and step into a '70s retro bar with era-appropriate garage sale decor, an Airstream trailer & legit backyard BBQ vibes. Did we mention they also serve spiked snow-cones? It's a must!
